Downy Mildew (Plasmopara viticola)

0:39 ·

Downy mildew, caused by Plasmopara viticola, is one of the most destructive vineyard diseases. Look for pale yellow oil-spot lesions on leaves, white cottony growth underneath, and berries turning brown and leathery. It spreads through rain and wind in warm, humid, poorly ventilated canopies. Protect your vines with timed fungicide sprays ahead of rain, canopy thinning, and early removal of infected leaves.
