CYOL Times
Editorial Standards
The principles every CYOL Times story follows: accuracy, fairness, independence and transparency.
Last updated
Accuracy
We check facts, figures and quotes before we publish, name our sources wherever we can, and link to original data and research.
Independence
Our journalists decide what to cover and how. Advertisers, sponsors and CYOL’s other activities do not shape our editorial decisions.
Fairness
We give people and organisations we report on a fair opportunity to respond to significant claims about them, and we report their response.
Sources
We prefer named, on-the-record sources. We use anonymous sources only when there is no other way to report information that is in the public interest, and an editor must know who they are.
Editing and approval
Every story is written by a named journalist and approved by an editor before publication. Each article shows when it was published.
Advertising and sponsored content
Paid content is published as CYOL Partner Studio and clearly labelled as sponsored. Advertisements are labelled and never appear inside a story. See our Advertising Policy.
Corrections
When we get something wrong we correct it promptly and openly. See our Corrections page.
