Cookie Policy
The cookies the CYOL Times website sets, and what each one is for.

What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. We use only a few, all to make the website work. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies.
Cookies we set
- cyol_geo — remembers the country we detected for the regional news box, so it does not have to be worked out on every visit. Lasts 30 days. Contains a country code only.
- cyol_geo_pref — remembers the country you chose in the regional news box. Set only if you choose one. Lasts 30 days.
- payload-token — keeps signed-in staff (journalists and editors) logged in. Set only when you sign in; removed when you sign out or it expires.
Other storage
On phones, if you close the advertisement bar at the bottom of the screen, your browser remembers that until you close the tab (session storage, key cyol:ad-anchor-closed).
Third-party cookies
Videos are embedded from YouTube. YouTube may set its own cookies when you play a video; Google’s privacy policy explains how they are used.
Managing cookies
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. The website still works without them; the regional news box will simply not remember your country, and staff will need to sign in again.
Changes
If we start using a new cookie we will add it here before we use it, and update the effective date above.
